DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACTIVITIES AND INITIATIVES

I. Inspections are being conducted by the Officials of BOCW Wing in the Unregistered Construction Sites to cover them under the ambit of BOCW Act
II. Special squad inspections are being conducted in labour accomodations and construction sites to ensure health, safety and welfare of the construction workers by the officers of BOCW Wing along with the revenue officials in the following districts : Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpet, Coimabtore, Madurai and Trichy
III. Conference on Fireworks Safety conducted on 12.12.2022 under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister for Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture and Archaeology, and Hon’ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department at Virudhunagar. A handbook “Industrial safety- Initiatives of the Government of Tamilnadu” was released by the Honourable Ministers during this safety conference.
IV. Seminar on Legal Compliances and Safety in Oil and Gas Industries under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Labour welfare and skill development department conducted on 13.03.2023. A “Handbook on legal compliances and safety in Oil and Gas Industries” was released during this program for the benefit of the executives engaged in this sector
V. An health survey was conducted at Manali area was conducted from 16.02.2023 – 23.02.2023 in Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Piramel Pharma Limited, Madras Fertilizers Limited, SRF (NYLON), Ashok Leyland Foundries and MRF.
VI. “Action plan for preventing accidents in Firework factories in Virudhunagar district” conducted on 28.09.2022 under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister for Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill development department and Chief Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu
VII. One day workshop for safety officers in factories was conducted in Kancheepuram district on 02.02.2023. A safety handbook on “The role of safety officers” was released by the Director of Industrial safety and health for the benefit of the safety officers in factories
